Also known as Boxberry or American winter green, Gaultheria is a species of Gaultheria native to southeastern North America, from Newfoundland to the west, southeast Manitoba, and south to Alabama. It is a shrub plant with a length of 10-15 cm. The leaves are ecliptic in shape and green throughout the year, 2-5 cm tall and 1-2 cm wide. Fruits of partridge grape 6-9 mm in diameter and bright red color. It grows mostly in forested areas, acidic soils and fruits in sunny weather and places. It is a plant native to the north-east of the North American continent.
