Propolis is defined as a resinous mixture produced by honey bees by combining their own saliva with the substances collected from tree buds, plant extracts, flowers and other botanical sources. The color of the propolis may vary depending on the amount of bee collection of the bee to create propolis, but it usually becomes a dark brown color. The propolis they produce uses to close undesirable small cracks and gaps in the hive, but larger gaps are filled with wax. This is very important because if these openings are not closed properly, the hive cannot resist some very dangerous invaders such as snakes and lizards. So bees essentially make propolis and beeswax to protect their homes and order.
