Prunus domestica can grow to 12 meters. Shoots may be glabrous or pubescent. Leaves elliptical or oblong, 10 cm. and 6 cm long. Wide. Petiol 20 mm. long. The flowers are white clusters with 2 flowers and come out with the leaves. Pedal 20 mm. long. Fruit 8 cm. long, greenish, yellow, red, violet or dark blue color. Fruit is sweet. Blooms in March and April. It is rich in vitamins A, C and B and potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and iron minerals. Plum is thought to have spread from the Caucasus and the Caspian Sea around the world from Anatolia. Southeast Anatolia with the exception of some parts of the arid highlands of eastern Anatolia in Turkey grows everywhere. There are over 200 plum species in the world.
