It belongs to Ballıbabagiller family. 10 -30 cm. perennial resistant herbaceous plant. There are two types that develop vertically or lying on the ground. Stems and leaves are hairy. The leaves are short-stemmed and oval in shape. The leaves are found just below the flower. The flowers are purplish pink. Flowers and leaves are arranged in the body at certain intervals. The plant grows with its tiny seeds. It has a strong smell. Known and qualified in the Mediterranean region since ancient times, yarpuz is sold in markets and used as a substitute for mint. It grows naturally in wetlands and meadows in many regions of Anatolia. Most seen in the Mediterranean Region. Before the plant starts to blossom, it is collected and dried in a shade. Leaves that appear to be rusty should be removed while drying.
