Parsley family, usually a two-year plant. The trunk rises vertically, bifurcates quite often, may be 1-2 meters tall. The leaves are thin threadlike, the leaves in the middle and the upper leaves are sitting without stem. The flowers are quite small in golden yellow color and form an umbrella bunch. The fruits are made up of two equal parts, sometimes adjacent and sometimes single. Its roots are spindle-shaped and have aroma-scented and approximately finger-thick long and lateral roots. The seeds of the plant contain sticky plant liquid, sugar, starch, tannins, fixed and essential oils. Essential oils give the seed anise scent, and in some countries the seed is used in small amounts to add flavor to salads and meals instead of anise.
