Black serpent is a steep and beautiful forest flower, one of the 12 plants that were previously included in the genus Cimicifuga, but today belong to the genus Actaea. This perennial plant, whose homeland is North America, can reach a length of 45 cm first and 2 meters after flowering. The leaves consist of three parts. The leaflet at the end of each leaf group has three lobes and the middle lobe is the largest. The leaf base is in the form of a heart or triangle. Edges in the upper half of the leaflets are sharp-toothed. Delicate flowers do not have petals, but there are many showy stamen. The flowers stand on long and thin stems that are easily noticed. There may be few plants that bloom within populations of dozens of plants. The black snake roots in the south of the region where it grows naturally bloom in late May and the flowers in the north until the beginning of September.
