Balsam Apple Extract

Kudret Narı is a plant that is found naturally in the tropical climate regions, the Amazon basin, East Africa, Asia, the Caribbean Islands and especially in South America and the Far East as a food and medicine. Kudret Narı, a one-year climber and ivy plant, blooms in summer. Its leaves are fan-shaped, lobed, and the teeth are toothed. Its small, yellow flowers are on separate stems, male or female. Its fruits are green first, orange-red color when ripe, 10-20 cm long, with a wide shuttle shape, overlapping and rough. When the fruit ripens, its shell is bent back into 3 separate pieces, resulting in numerous, red-brown or white-colored seeds. The seeds (seeds) are 7-10mm tall, flat and lumpy. In Latin, momordica means biting, This name is given because the leaves look like they are defeated. All parts of the plant and sap are very bitter. It is a plant that is grown a lot, believing that it is medicinal especially in the Philippines. Despite its bitter taste, it is used in many Philippine dishes. In the Philippines, its local name is Ampalaya. In Western countries, it is called bitter melon (bitter melon), bitter gourd (bitter gourd), African cucumber (African cucumber), balsam apple (balsam apple) or balsam pear (balsam pear).
