Aspartame is a low-calorie sweetener used in food and beverages. 200 times sweeter than sugarAspartame is a sweetener containing 2 amino acids (aspartic acid and phenylalanine). Aspartame is 180-200 times sweeter than sucrose and is used as a low-calorie sweetening ingredient in soft drinks, dairy products, gums, chocolate and ice cream.

It is similar to saccharin in taste and property. Although it produces a taste close to sugar, it produces a bitter taste when used too much.

It is used in water-based flavored drinks, milk and milk-derived products and some fruit juices, water-based flavored desserts and vegetable-based dessert productions. It can also be used in egg based desserts and cereal desserts. It is also used in sweet cookies, fat-based desserts and sugar-free candies. 
In addition to these, it is also used in pastry products, mustard and sauces, ice cream, cones, wafers and cornets which are formulated for special diets.
