Seaweed is a primitive species with different sizes and shapes, ranging from single-celled species under the microscope to giant seaweeds that are many meters long. These are also called algae. From the green foam deposits in the still waters to the slippery plants in the sea, algae is present in every aspect of our life. However, they do not just live in water like their name. You can come across these creatures in the tree trunk, on the rocks, wherever there is brief moisture on the wall. Even in turtle shells, algae can survive.
Although algae looks like a plant in appearance, it does not have leaves, flowers and roots. However, there are green chlorophyll pigments. These produce their own food. In some types, other color substances can be dominant. In these chlorophyll may be invisible. It is also classified according to the colors of algae. They are called red, brown, green, golden algae. Red Sea sometimes gets a reddish color. This is caused by red seaweeds in the sea. They cause such discolorations where they are in large quantities. Their reproduction can be sexual or asexual.
The majority of seaweed species live at sea. The most well-known of them is brown algae. These are usually attached to the rocks by the handle, with air sacs on them. They also have flat hard long bodies. Thanks to their sachets, they float in areas close to the water surface. This allows algae to photosynthesize through sunlight. Such brown algae can grow from 6 meters to 65 meters. They form underwater forests in the oceans. Types of green algae in the sea are known as sea lettuce. Similar to lettuce, the seaweed on the rocks by the sea is curly, translucent, green leafy and thin. Red seaweed mostly lives in hot waters. They are quite attractive and elegant. There are flat, downy and threadlike types. According to their color pigments,
